Something a bit different for the next week... about six or seven months ago, I purchased a set of TruVue story cards on eBay. Superfically, they resembled Give-A-Show Projector slides, except that they were a LOT smaller, and the individual slides themselves were actual film slides, as opposed to Kenner's printed-on-plastic slides!
Sawyer's TruVue was an early competitor to View-Master, so far as I can tell. Originally, their 3-D viewer used a card with each slide parallel to the other (kind of like Kenner's later See-A-Show). They were the original publishers of the Batman TV series View-Master, so to speak... sometime they merged with View-Master, and everything went from story cards to the more familiar discs! This set of slides came out in 1959, a year before Kenner's first Give-A-Show set.
These slides that I'm sharing now are all Disney items... there'll be more Disney in another month or so when I get around to scanning more of my Magna-Slides!
Celebrating Kenner's Give-A-Show Projector and Similar Toys!
I'm a collector of Kenner's Give-A-Show Projector sets, and have decided to create this blog to provide sort of an online archive of this wonderful toy and related items!
The oldest sets posted here are series of single pictures, but I hope to upgrade those posts to video form sometime in the near future!
